We want to say a huge thank you to all of those that either attended the London Legal Walk with us or supported the branch by way of sponsorship or messages of support. The branch raised almost £130 which was fantastic and we all had a wonderful evening despite the heat and the 10km walk. It was great to see so many other lawyers at the event for such a worthy cause.
The CILEx London branch officially re-launched with an event at the Westminster University.
Kate Sutherland, CILEx Course Leader at Westminster University kicked off proceedings with a brief overview of the University and of the CILEx branch itself. CILEx Lawyer Sarah Harding (Associate at BP Collins LLP), and current Acting Chair of CILEx London, also spoke about her role in the branch and how she became involved.
A very interesting talk was held by Paresh Kathrani of Westminster University regarding artificial intelligence and its impact upon the legal sector. This was very enlightening and gave members something to think about whilst going forward in their careers.
David Holden, Senior Divisional Manager at Search Legal Recruitment, also gave a talk in CV drafting and finding employment. This was very thought-provoking, giving members interesting overviews of what employers look for in potential staff and also how to lay out your CV to capture the interest of a particular employer.
Sarah Harding and CILEx Lawyer Sharon Akumiah (Legal Adviser at Tokio Marine Kiln) then discussed how to make the most of your work experience and best present yourself in a law firm/legal environment.
Members then enjoyed a glass of wine/soft drink to finish off the evening!
